Debate

McCain showed up! Does anyone else find this surprising? I thought this move had both good things and bad things about it. I mean the guy is all oh I am going to put the country first before anything and he goes back on his word. Is that really such a smart move? On the other hand Obama would have had a 90 minute interview, which definitely would not be good.

After watching the debate, in my opinion, Obama totally won. He knew his issues and whenever McCain would bring up a good point Obama would completely shut it down. Obama had some really good strategies also. He used McCain's opinions against him by stating that he has followed Bush for 8 years and his tactics are similar to his. Not only that but he is also a much better speaker then McCain, this is going to help him a lot.

Although McCain had some good points Obama prevailed. When Obama would retaliate against McCain, McCain would either laugh or repeat what he had said before. Not really a good strategy.

I thought McCain had a pretty good night too. He challenged Obama and his answers were pretty crisp. Obama, though, I agree did slightly better overall.

I honestly thought McCain would be a no-show! But yeah, overall Obama won, but there were instances where McCain won. It seemed a tad sugar coated (the entire debate), eh, maybe I'm thinking too much into it.

I actually knew that John McCain would come to the debate, because a 90 minute Obama commercial wouldn't have been too good for his campaign..

I thought that Obama did well for not having as much experience as John McCain on national security. I was actually impressed and almost surprised at how John McCain spoke. Ordinarily, I think that John McCain is a bad speaker- he looks at the ground and at his notes when speaking, and is just really boring. During the debate, he still spoke to the ground and his notes at times, but he definately spoke, in my opinion, better than he usually does.

I agree that John McCain's strategy was weak when Obama retaliated. He should have had some better way to defend himself without being redundant or making light of it.

Obama also had some weaknesses though- he stumbled across his words at times. But, his adept speaking was a key part in keeping him strong throughout the debate- and i expect it will continue to do so in the next month of the election.
